From Team of One to Strategic Design Practice
When I joined iLab Operations (later acquired by Agilent Technologies), UX was an afterthought. I entered as a UX team of one within a large, complex organization. Over four years, I built and scaled a design practice that shaped product direction, strengthened internal cohesion, and elevated user experience as a strategic pillar of the business.
Through vision-led leadership, systems thinking and strategic storytelling, I influenced stakeholders across R&D, product and marketing to see UX not as a final step—but as a core enabler of alignment, performance and innovation.
Building a Scalable Design System
Led the creation of a unified, modern design system across web and mobile platforms.
Partnered with R&D and IT teams to incrementally align products to a common visual and interaction standard
Delivered reusable UI components and scalable patterns that improved design consistency and team efficiency
Positioned the design system as foundational infrastructure for accelerating product delivery and reducing design debt
Optimizing Legacy UI through Targeted Improvements
Audited a legacy platform with over 200+ unique pages to identify friction and usability gaps.
Delivered quick, high-impact UI improvements that significantly improved experience quality
Helped shift NPS from -27 to +3 over three years—directly tied to targeted UX enhancements
Leveraged telemetry and usage data to identify high-traffic workflows and prioritize improvements.
Used early wins to gain buy-in and build momentum for deeper UX investment
Established a process for involving users directly in shaping product direction.
Led co-creation workshops and usability testing to validate early concepts and refine feature direction
Integrated card sorting, journey mapping and iterative prototyping to ensure products were shaped by real user insight
Collaborated with marketing and a design agency to align Agilent’s public-facing site with its product platforms.
Initiated a full UI refresh that improved accessibility, visual cohesion and cross-channel consistency
Extended the design system to unify branding across both .com and product environments
Helped present a cohesive, trustworthy experience across the digital ecosystem
Led multi-day design sprints to clarify direction for a net-new product offering.
Used collaborative ideation, prototyping and storytelling to align previously disconnected stakeholders
Turned abstract ideas into a shared product vision and executable roadmap
Led the UX strategy for a new operations platform designed to support lab workflows.
Conducted user research to validate product-market fit and guide MVP definition
Built scalable interface components to support modular growth and agile team velocity
First proof of concept built by developers
Final UI designs
Native Mobile Application Designs
Established UX as a strategic, respected function across a global enterprise
Scaled design operations and team maturity from a single contributor to an embedded, cross-functional practice
Created systems and frameworks that continue to influence product design and delivery at Agilent today
Earned executive support through storytelling, research and delivery of real business results
UX at Agilent became more than design—it became the language of clarity, connection and shared direction.
And I helped build that language from the ground up.
