Mission Readiness Dashboard
THE CHALLENGE
The Air Force needed a centralized, real-time dashboard to coordinate mission readiness across multiple bases, aircraft, and repair facilities.
Existing tools were fragmented and homegrown, making it difficult to assess status, allocate resources, or respond with speed and clarity.
I was brought in to design a unified interface that could calculate capability and capacity, support rapid decision-making, and be co-created live in high-stakes sessions with Air Force leadership.
MY ROLE
As Lead UX Designer, I owned the end-to-end process — from research to UI — in an environment where precision and speed were critical.
Facilitated live co-creation with command staff, operations managers, and medical officers
Created personas, workflows, wireframes, and final UI aligned to real-world urgency
Designed for clarity at scale, enabling both tactical action and strategic oversight
Partnered across product and engineering to deliver in agile sprints
THE APPROACH
This wasn’t a typical design process. I worked on base, screen projected wall-to-wall, designing live as decisions were made in the room.
I sketched and iterated in real time — translating feedback into clear, actionable interfaces that matched operational realities.
To anchor the experience in user needs, I created personas for:
Node Managers – managing shop-level readiness
Repair Network Managers – coordinating cross-base constraints
Command Leadership – maintaining big-picture situational awareness
These roles kept us focused on the right problems, the right flows, and the right outcomes.
I created flows and dashboards to support:
Rapid triage across F-16, F-15, and A-10 aircraft
Real-time capacity modeling, factoring manpower, parts, and readiness
Prioritization logic to help Node Managers act fast
Command-level visibility, with drilldowns and trend forecasting
These tools bridged the gap between planning and execution — moving teams from information overload to operational clarity.
THE IMPACT
Working in agile sprints, I partnered closely with engineering and QA to deliver a scalable tool that met the Air Force’s need for speed, accuracy, and alignment.
Outcomes:
Faster readiness decisions – clear trends, fewer delays
Unified workflows – replaced patchwork tools with a centralized system
Live capacity insights – integrated logistics and performance data
Strategic enablement – supported the broader Repair Network Integration (RNI) initiative
Personal growth – sharpened my ability to lead, adapt, and deliver under pressure
WIREFRAMES & FINAL UI DESIGNS
This dashboard became more than a product — it became a mission-critical tool for coordination, clarity, and confident decision-making. ✨
